A shocking notice that she wanted to quit put us in a tailspin..

As a parent, it’s important to me that my child is able to find an activity that she enjoys and can thrive in. After seven years of figure skating lessons, my daughter recently decided that it wasn’t the right fit for her. While I was proud of her for being able to identify that and move on, I also wanted to help her find a new activity that she would be passionate about.

To do this, I created a survey to gather information about my daughter’s interests, strengths, and preferences. The survey covered a wide range of topics, including her favorite subjects in school, hobbies she enjoys outside of school, physical activities she likes to do, and any other organized activities she has participated in.

I also asked her about her goals and expectations for her new activity. For example, did she want something more competitive or more recreational? Was she looking for an individual activity or something that involved teamwork? These questions were important to me because I wanted to make sure that the activity my daughter chose aligned with her values and goals.

In addition to gathering information from my daughter, I also consulted with friends and family members who had experience with different organized activities. I asked them about their recommendations, as well as any pros and cons they had encountered with the activities their own children had participated in.

Using all of this information, I was able to compile a list of potential activities for my daughter to consider. Some of the options on the list included dance, martial arts, music lessons, and sports teams.

After discussing the list with my daughter and considering her feedback, we were able to narrow down the options and select a few activities that seemed like the best fit. We then signed her up for a few trial classes to see which one she enjoyed the most.

Overall, the survey process was helpful in finding an activity that my daughter was passionate about and that aligned with her goals. It allowed us to gather a wide range of information and consider multiple options, ultimately leading to a more informed decision. I’m glad that we took the time to create and utilize the survey, and I’m confident that it will help my daughter find an activity that she will enjoy and excel in.

I wanted to share this survey with others, and thought creating a blog where I could share this tool along with other aspects of this difficult topic with other parents would be worthwhile pursuit.
